Hot Pot: Cooking in Zambia
What is it like cooking in an African village? What do they eat and how do they cook without mains power?
The presentation and activities will help pupils learn about ways of cooking in different countries. They will appreciate the diversity of lifestyles at home and overseas.
Would life in an Africa village be completely different from life here in the UK?
Through a series of ‘mystery’ photos and activities, pupils will learn about life in a Zambian village. They will be challenged to think about what is 'normal'.
Curriculum links: Geography, Citizenship, PSHE, English and Drama
This practical topic will teach pupils about the growth cycle of a plant and some of the different plants grown for food in Africa.
Pupils will learn first hand about the importance of growing conditions by planting salad rocket. They will share or sell the rocket leaves, design and make seed packets and collect seeds for drying.
