Burkina Faso

This project began in July 2008 and is taking place in 10 Villages in the Oubritenga province, Central Burkina.

The project aims to increase honey production among Wend Yam group members and increase farmers’ income by:

• Providing training on bee-keeping to farmers

• Providing appropriate equipment for bee-keeping

• Establishing a commercialisation strategy for honey sale governed by women

• Establishing a processing unit for honey to ensure quality

• Providing technical training to field officers

• Liaising with the national bee keeping organisation and with the National Research Institute for exchanges visits

Our local partner is Fédération Nationale des Groupements Wend Yam de Kulkinka.

Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso is the second poorest country in the world. A quarter of its population survives on less than $1 per day.
The country has few valuable natural resources and relies primarily on agriculture. 83% of the total population live in rural areas and depend on local natural resources for their livelihoods.
