New projects:

Eritrea

Self Help Africa has plans for the commencement of a number of new area based development programmes in Eritrea.

Planning has taken place for the start up of five-year programmes in Kimira, at Afambo in the outhern Red Sea, at Mai-Aini in the Debub Region, and at Elabared in the Anseba Region of the country.

Baseline studies and needs assessments have been undertaken in advance of these projects, which will focus primarily on increasing agricultural production, on irrigated farm production, on improving access to clean drinking water, and on strengthening existing social service provision.

The programme will also mainstream issues of HIV/AIDS, and of gender into each of these projects.
