Sustainable Agriculture Support

Self Help Africa facilitates a network for all our partners to share learning around sustainable farming methods. The aim is to promote good practice through peer support.

An Agricultural Coordinator leads on the following activities:

Agriculture Network Meetings

Field staff have the opportunity to get together 3 times a year. Each meeting has a theme and involves field visits hosted by each partner in turn.

Research projects

Farmer trials have taken place across all projects comparing different fertiliser and manure treatments on different seed varieties. Chintedze research Institute has supported farmers and field staff in the design of trials, recording of yields and analysis of results.

Technical support

Our Coordinator provides advice to field staff on any issue around sustainable agriculture methods.
