Self Help Africa (SHA) is an International non-profit organization implementing food security and livelihood projects in rural Zambia. SHA’s mission is to develop enterprising solutions that enable small holder farmers to achieve a better quality of life. SHA is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the positions of Chief of Party for an anticipated 4-year project. The anticipated project will focus on increasing economic resilience in the Eastern Province of Zambia (Chipata, Katete and Lundazi) through activities that will improve food security, nutrition and increase access to and use of household assets. The anticipated project will in particular promote agricultural interventions that address specific challenges of women’s engagement in agriculture. The COP will have the responsibility of providing overall project leadership and technical oversight in project implementation. Duties 1. The COP will be responsible for providing the overall strategic vision and leadership to the anticipated project. 2. He/She will lead the implementation of the project and oversee the programmatic, financial and administrative aspects of the project. 3. Supervise senior project technical staff 4. Act as the point of contact for the project with USAID, relevant government departments and donors, 5. Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of project and evaluate results for continued improvement of project implementation 6. Maintain effective communication with all implementing partners and key stakeholders and coordinate project activities with relevant institutions and similar projects in the target area. 7. Ensure coordination of the project to overall SHA program
Required Relevant Experience: BS degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy or related field. At least ten experience in a field capacity, designing, implementing, and managing large-scale agricultural value chain, agribusiness, and/or rural development projects for USAID, USDA, World Bank and/or other donors. Experience and demonstrated success working with private sector agribusinesses and government stakeholders to achieve improvements in incomes, productivity, or job creation will be added advantage. At least two years previous experience as a Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party. Fluency in English, Nyanja, Cichewa Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
Preferred Relevant Experience: MS degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy or related field Work experience in Zambia, experience in Eastern Province will be added advantage.
