Self Help Africa (SHA) is an International non-profit organization implementing food security and livelihood projects in rural Zambia. SHA’s mission is to develop enterprising solutions that enable small holder farmers to achieve a better quality of life. SHA is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the positions of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) specialist for an anticipated 4-year project.
The anticipated project will focus on increasing economic resilience in the Eastern Province of Zambia (Chipata, Katete and Lundazi) through activities that will improve food security, nutrition and increase access to and use of household assets. The anticipated project will in particular promote agricultural interventions that address specific challenges of women’s engagement in agriculture. The M&E will have the responsibility of providing overall project leadership and technical oversight in project implementation.
Duties 1. Lead in the developing and updating of a Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (PMEP). 2. Supervise the standardization of M&E tools for project monitoring. 3. Provide technical assistance in M&E data collection and use. 4. Assist in the training of partner staff in the implementation of the PMEP, including use of M&E data. 5. Lead on the production of progress narrative reports and all other required information to satisfy USAID and SHA requirements. 6. Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of project and evaluate results for continued improvement of project implementation. 7. Lead on selection of consultants to undertake key M&E assignments, reviews, mid-term and final evaluations of the project. 8. Ensure coordination of the project M&E activities to overall SHA M&E systems
Required Relevant Experience: 1. BS degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy or related field. Masters level qualification will be added advantage. 2. At least five years senior experience in conduction monitoring and evaluation activities for USAID and USDA. 3. Experience in monitoring and evaluating rural agricultural and rural enterprise initiatives 4. Ability to build relationships with other similar project M&E specialists, both institutional and individual 5. Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods 6. Very strong analytical skills with expert knowledge of common statistical software package ( e.g. SPSS, STATA) 7. Excellent writing skills 8. Fluency in English, Nyanja, Cichewa 9. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
