How to volunteer

Want to volunteer? Find out how to join our team of volunteers nationwide:

Step 1 - reading

Read about the different volunteering opportunities which fall into four main categories:

Become a local fundraiser
Become a local collector
bulletBecome a local speaker
bulletVolunteer at our office

Step 2 - enquire

You can find out more about volunteering by filling out the enquiry form. We will get in touch with you within 5 working days.

You can also call our office on 01743 277170. Once you have chatted to us about the volunteering you are interested in, you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire and submit your CV.

Step 3 – talking

After we’ve received your questionnaire and CV, we’ll arrange a time for you to come in to our office in Shrewsbury and discuss the volunteering position. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, meet the team and learn more about what we expect from our volunteers.

If more convenient, we’ll arrange for you to meet a volunteer in your area. If there are a number of new volunteers in one area, we may be able to travel to your area.

Step 4 – Training and support

We try to provide all our volunteers with relevant training, although in some roles – like helping at local events – you will learn 'on the job'.

Step 5 – Doing the job

As a volunteer you will develop new skills, become valued member of our team of volunteers, attend social events and enjoy yourself whilst doing it! And we are always here for support.
