Do you think that flowers and chocolates have become a a bit too predictable?
Then why not treat your special someone with a unique present this year. Self Help Africa has got Valentines Day gifts that will not only make your partner smile but will make someone in Africa smile too.
Our gifts are given to families who are struggling to make enough food to feed themselves all year round. They lack the skills and resources that would put them on the road to self reliance and secure their future.
When you buy one of our gifts - you are not only treating someone close to your heart, but you will be supporting the development of beekeeping, or of poultry rearing, in an African home.
When you purchase a gift it will be sent either to you or directly to the recipient with a special card and a certificate explaining how your gift will be used. We can even write a personal message to your loved one inside the card. If you would like us to write a message and send the card directly to the recipient, then please telephone the office on 01743 277170.
Beekeeping is particularly suited to female farmers because unlike crop-growing, it requires little land. Bees also play an important role in pollinating crops.
Your gift will provide beekeeping training and equipment for one woman, allowing her to process and sell honey at local markets.
A clutch of chickens, guinea fowl or turkeys will boost an African family's earnings.
Eggs and meat provide a valuable source of protein, and can be sold to supplement family income.
How your gift works
Self Help Africa is offering two great gift cards for Valentine's Day, this year.
We will send you a blank card (shown below) which you can give away to the recipient. An enclosed certificate will explain how the gift is benefiting our poultry rearing, and our beekeeping work. If you would like your gift card to be addressed and send directly to the recipient, please telephone Rachel on 01743 277170.
