Volunteer

Volunteering for Self Help Africa is a great way to support our work. We have a wide-range of volunteering opportunities around the UK so there is something to suit everyone. There are lots of ways you can give your time - by organising events, giving talks, helping on a project in our office, and many more.

As well as helping support our work, volunteering can be a great way to get out and about in your local community and meet people who share the same interest.

How do I get started?

The calendar below shows a list of collections and other events we have booked. If you are able to volunteer at any of them, please email infouk@selfhelpafrica.org or call 01743 277170.

If you can't find a date or location that's suitable, we'd still love to hear from you. Please fill out an enquiry form, and we will do our best to book a collection in a location near you.

Why we don't send volunteers overseas

We support projects in Africa which employ local staff. Our projects aim to build the capacity of local organizations and people for the long-term. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate volunteers who might wish to work in Africa. However, if you are interesting in visiting out projects, we organise annual
supporter visits.
